On February 25, 2026, PRIMED is proud to join Canadians in supporting Pink Shirt Day, a movement that promotes kindness, inclusion, and respect. This year, we're providing special pink bouffant caps to hospitals across the country to raise awareness, giving healthcare teams a visible way to stand against bullying and show solidarity in creating safe, respectful environments for everyone.
What is Pink Shirt Day?
Pink Shirt Day, also known as Anti-Bullying Day, began in 2007 when two Nova Scotia students organized a high-school protest to wear pink after a grade 9 boy was bullied for wearing a pink shirt1. They distributed pink t-shirts to all the boys in their school.
Since 2008, CKNW Kids' Fund has helped thousands of kids affected by bullying, distributing over $3 million in net proceeds to youth anti-bullying programs across British Columbia and Western Canada1.
Bullying Beyond the Schoolyard
While the origins of Pink Shirt Day began in the schoolyard, bullying affects people of all ages and settings; it isn't limited to classrooms. It can occur in workplaces, online spaces, and even healthcare environments, impacting mental health, team dynamics, and patient care. In healthcare, bullying among professionals is a documented issue. It erodes respect and dignity, creating toxic environments for staff and patients alike, and can lead to healthcare professionals leaving their jobs or professions2.
Psychologists note that bullying underlies many social problems and emphasize that Pink Shirt Day should not only challenge bullying but also promote inclusion3.
PRIMED and Healthcare Teams Unite for Kindness
As a medical personal protective equipment (PPE) company, PRIMED is deeply connected to healthcare professionals. Our shared promise is protecting with purpose, and while this often means safeguarding physical health, we believe it also includes creating safe spaces that nurture mental health and wellbeing.
PRIMED is proud to support Pink Shirt Day and the movement to end bullying - and we encourage everyone to do the same. To show your support, all you need to do is put on your brightest, pinkest shirt and be kind to those you encounter. Don't be a bully, be the difference. Together, let's create safer spaces for all - because every act of kindness matters.
