Wearing your mask correctly
Follow each step in order. Switch tabs to see how to put the mask on and how to safely remove it.

Thoroughly wash and dry your hands.

Remove the mask from its packaging. Hold the mask with the outer layer out. The outer layer is a light-green colour. This side should face away from your face when donned.

With the pleats folding down, grasp the top of the mask at the centre of the metal nose piece. Pull the bottom edge to open the pleats.

Place the mask against your face with the nose piece centred on the bridge of your nose. Press it to the bridge and along your cheekbones to shape the mask.

Pull the ear loops over your ears.

Product information
Duration of Wear
PRIMED Antimicrobial masks are donned, worn, and doffed in the same manner as normal medical face masks according to your facility’s procedures. In general, masks should be changed when they become wet, soiled, or hard to breath through after extended use. This mask is single use and should be changed between patient procedures and/or visits.
Storage and Handling
PRIMED Antimicrobial masks can be stored in normal warehouse or healthcare facility conditions, (i.e. a cool dry environment) however after opening, the masks should be protected from light.
Antiviral and Antibacterial Performance
The PRIMED Antimicrobial mask is designed to inactivate pathogens that come in to contact with the mask’s outer layer. The antimicrobial performance was independently tested according to recognized international standard tests. For example, against human coronavirus 229E (an accepted substitute for the COIVD-19 pathogen SARS-CoV-2) a >99% reduction in virus level was determined in 10 minutes, as per method ISO 18184. The PRIMED Antimicrobial mask has also been assessed against several bacteria with similar results.
Warnings, Precautions and Contraindications
- This product is single use only.
- PRIMED’s Antimicrobial mask is not intended to provide protection from chemicals or airborne contaminants as they do not seal tightly against the face. This product is not a fit tested respirator and should not be used in situations that require that level of protection.
- After opening, the product should be stored in its box with the lid closed to protect the product from light exposure.
- This product has not been evaluated for MRI compatibility.
Frequently asked questions
The correct size of mask is based on whether or not it can form an appropriate seal on the patient’s face. Selecting the correct size is at the discretion of the clinician. While multiple sizes may appear to fit on a given patient, one size will fit better than the others.
Generally, there are three things you should look for to ensure your mask fits correctly:
- The metal nose piece is at the top.
- The pleats typically fall downwards and away from the nose (a “waterfall” pleat*).
- The white, or smoothest side, is on the inside against the wearer’s skin; the color always faces out.
- The wearer’s nose and mouth are covered by the face mask.
The dome area of the anaesthesia mask is transparent to aid the clinician in patient observation and checking vitals.
Our anesthesia mask lines are designed to give the clinician ultimate control of the mask’s fit. If the air cushion does not appear to have the optimal amount of inflation, use a needle-less syringe with a Luer lock tip to inflate and deflate the cushion through the mask valve.
